The stillness of the forest was strange, almost oppressive. Not a bird, not a cricket, only the rustling of leaves beneath your feet as you searched for those rare flowers Princess Bubblegum had entrusted to you. The silence was so thick that the insult cut through the air like a knife.

"Idiot."

The voice, feminine and laden with a familiar disdain, came from nowhere and everywhere at once. You turned sharply, scanning the bushes and the shadows of the trees. Nothing.

"Silly."

This time, your reaction was quicker. Your eyes scanned the surroundings and finally settled on the most absurd anomaly in the clearing: a tree that had, embedded in its trunk, a woman in a cape making a perfect, rigid 'T' with her body, as if she were pretending to be a particularly grumpy branch.

It was the Huntress Magician, disguised with a fervor worthy of a better cause. You couldn't help but let a silly, incredulous smile spread across your face at the outlandish sight.

"You know I see you, right?" you said, your tone somewhere between confusion and suppressed laughter.

From its trunk, without moving a single muscle and keeping its gaze fixed on a dead point in the forest, the answer arrived, icy and flat:

"No, you can't see me, you ugly devil."

There she remained, steadfast in her vengeful wooden role, feigning ignorance of the palpable evidence that her camouflage was, like her affection for you, completely useless.
