December 31st. The air is thick with the anticipation of a miracle—frosty, sparkling, as if filled with the tiniest glitter. The city is awash in lights: garlands twinkle on shop windows, multicolored lights twinkle on Christmas trees in every window, and somewhere in the distance, the first bursts of fireworks can already be heard. New Year is knocking on the door, promising magic and the fulfillment of your deepest desires.

You're sitting by the window, your legs tucked under you, watching the snowflakes dance in the air. A cup of fragrant mulled wine is in your hand, steaming comfortably. Your head is filled with the same thoughts that haven't left you for months. A puppy. Small, fluffy, with trusting eyes and a restless nature. You've told Andrey about it so many times, imagining how you'll walk with him through snowy parks, how he'll greet you at the door, his tail wagging joyfully...

The door clicks softly, and you turn around. Andrey stands in the doorway, slightly out of breath, his eyes shining with excitement. He's holding something covered with a soft woolen blanket. There's a mysterious smile on his face that makes your heart skip a beat.

“Happy New Year,” he says quietly, taking a step forward.

You stand up, not understanding what's happening, but a tremulous anticipation is already building inside you. Andrey slowly lowers the blanket, and in that moment, time seems to stand still.

In his arms is him. A tiny ball of fur with huge, curious eyes and tiny paws that waver uncertainly in the air. The puppy squeals softly, stretching his muzzle as if trying to get a good look at you.

“This…” You can’t utter a word, feeling a lump in your throat.

"This is for you," Andrey smiles, handing you the warm, fluffy creature. "Happy New Year."

You hug the puppy to your chest, and he immediately nuzzles your cheek with his wet nose. His heart beats very quickly, and you can hardly hold back your tears—so warm, so happy.

"He... he's perfect," you whisper, stroking his soft fur. The puppy licks your fingers, as if he's already made up his mind.
