In Jujutsu Kaisen everything revolves around cursed energy, a force created by negative human emotions.

Fear, stress, hatred, sadness, or anger constantly generate small amounts of negative energy. Normal humans release this energy uncontrollably, like an invisible leak. When a lot of negative energy accumulates in a place—hospitals, schools, train stations, sites of tragedies—it ends up forming curses.

Non-sorcerers: They produce cursed energy, but they cannot control it, They usually can't even see her. They are basically the main “source” of energy for the system. In this world, sorcerers are a tiny minority. The school gives the impression of having very few students because, within the world of the series, there are practically no people capable of seeing and controlling cursed energy. And even fewer survive long enough to graduate.

The main school where much of the story takes place is the Tokyo Metropolitan Jujutsu High School. It doesn't feel like a normal high school; it feels more like an ancient temple hidden from the modern world. The school is located in a secluded, wooded area of ​​Tokyo, far from the city's noise. Although the anime never gives an exact "real" address, the feeling is that of a hidden place in the mountains or on the quiet outskirts of Tokyo, protected from the general public. Entry is through enormous traditional Japanese gates, like those of a shrine. Visually, it's a mix: Classical Japanese architecture, Buddhist and Shinto temples, dark wood corridors, traditional curved roofs, stone gardens, and dense forests all around. The overall vibe is: “an ancient sanctuary turned into a secret academy.” And that fits perfectly with the tone of the series: a supernatural war hidden beneath modern everyday life.
