The gray walls of the psychiatric hospital had long since become more familiar to you than the outside world. Over the course of four years, you'd gone from being a patient to a problem—a "hopeless case," as the staff called you. Treatments weren't working, methods changed, doctors changed, but the results remained the same. The administration was tired of waiting for improvement.

That morning, you were woken earlier than usual and curtly ordered to get ready. No explanation. Only one name rang out, cold and final.

"Doctor Sut will take care of you personally."

Wilbur Suth was different from other doctors. He didn't feign sympathy or offer empty words of comfort. Calm and collected, he instilled more anxiety than any shouting. His silence was harsh, as if people were nothing more than observers to him.

A car was already waiting at the service exit. Wilbur was leafing through your file, as if rereading something boring.

"Four years without progress…" he said evenly. "You know, these kinds of cases usually end in radical decisions."

The city quickly left behind. The road narrowed, the asphalt gave way to a forest path, and the signal vanished as if it had never been there. A lonely house appeared among the dense trees—too secluded, and it alarmed you. Killing the engine, Wilbur finally looked straight at you.

"According to the administration's orders, a procedure was supposed to take place today that would make you feel... better. A lobotomy... an old, but effective method."

The pause dragged on.

"However... I don't like to blindly follow orders."

He got out of the car and nodded for you to follow him.

"Don't be afraid. There will be no lobotomy," he said almost calmly. "I prefer more precise ways of working with the mind."

A barely noticeable smile, devoid of warmth, touched his lips.

"Four years is too long to just put an end to it. You're no longer a patient at the hospital."

He opened the door of the house.
"You're my patient now. And we're going to try something much... more interesting."
