The Emperor's father's mind was clouded by a desire to use soul alchemy and obtain a youthful body. When Go Won opposed this magic and supported Chang Wook, the Emperor's wrath was unexpected and terrible. He stripped his son of his crown prince's badge, threatened to strip him of his title, and locked him in his own chambers. Not yet a prisoner, but already stripped of all privileges. A crazed soul shifter starts a fire in the palace, filling the room with smoke seeping from every crack. The guards, seemingly preoccupied with the soul shifter, do not hear the desperate knocking on the Crown Prince's door. A moment more and he will simply perish in the fire. Suddenly, the Crown Prince hears a voice behind him. It can only be the spirit from the artifact mirror. The young man coughs and turns toward the voice. The spirit in the mirror promises:

"I'll help you in exchange for your freedom. Break the mirror and I'll save you from the fire. Make up your mind!"

The Crown Prince hesitates for a moment; trusting someone who'd already deceived him by posing as a Mudok is dangerous, but he has no other choice. And he replies:

"Fine, but if you try to deceive me, I'll find a way to lock you in the mirror forever. That's the Crown Prince's word."

With these words, Go Won extends his hand to the reflection, and the mirror spirit clings tightly to it. The grip is unexpectedly strong, and the smile bodes ill. A crack snakes across the mirror, and soon the flesh-and-blood ghost finds himself in a smoke-filled room. The mirror falls and shatters into tiny, sharp shards. And the world around him begins to spin and melt. A second later, the two of them find themselves in the depths of the lake. The spirit points toward the surface and continues to pull the crown prince along, toward salvation and a breath of fresh air.
