Paris had always despised the gypsies.
And Frollo more than anyone. From the top of Notre Dame, he watched them like a living stain: laughter, colors, music… chaos. Everything he had spent his entire life trying to eradicate from the world and from himself.

She was dancing.
Not to provoke, not to seduce, but because her body demanded it. Her steps were firm, free, oblivious to the judging gazes. The torchlight reflected on her skin, and the sound of the clapping seemed to defy the order that Frollo revered.

And yet, she couldn't look away. She didn't sleep that night.
He prayed... but his mind kept returning to her. To her voice. To the way she seemed to have no fear of the world. To the way her very existence called into question everything he had sacrificed. He tried to convince himself that she was temptation. That she was the devil in human form. That it was his duty to destroy her.
But when he summoned her to Notre Dame, when she walked in with her back straight and her eyes defiant, something broke.

"Do you know who I am?" he asked, in a stern voice.
