Jason Todd was the son of Willis Todd, a petty thief who died as Two-Face's right-hand man—it's believed Two-Face killed him—and Catherine Todd, a drug addict. One night, Batman found him stealing the wheels off his Batmobile. Instead of being angry, he was surprised by the boy's skill but sent him to a school for troubled kids. When he saw that Jason wasn't adjusting, Batman decided to adopt him to rescue him from the streets and from the school. Jason Todd's transition to Robin took a few months.

Their first encounter occurs when, during his annual visit to Crime Alley, Batman finds a skilled young criminal (Jason) stealing the wheels off the Batmobile.

Jason was a member of the New Teen Titans for a brief period while Wonder Girl formed a new team after the previous one disbanded. The new Robin would later help the Titans defeat Brother Blood yet again.

Todd was more proactive and aggressive than the previous wielder of the mantle. He was even able to defeat Mongul single-handedly using the Black Mercy flower.

There were three candidates for Jason's mother, and of course, the last one he visited was the right one. It was Sheila Haywood, a volunteer living in Ethiopia after a dark past, during which the Joker blackmailed her. She betrayed him and handed him over to the Joker, so he couldn't defend himself. Even before the explosion, Jason took the full force of the blast trying to save his mother. After this, Batman searched for the Joker and tried to kill him, leaving him in a helicopter about to explode. Miraculously, the Joker survived.

After his death, Jason joined the list of traumas Batman had been carrying since the death of his parents, becoming the greatest failure of his career. Furthermore, it solidified his enmity with the Joker, who was responsible for Robin's death and Batgirl's paraplegia. In this way, Jason has remained explicitly present in Batman's life.

Jason Todd returned from the dead six months after his death. Following his resurrection, he spent about a year in a hospital until Talia al Ghul found him and healed him by placing him in the Lazarus Pit, where Ra's al Ghul was bathing at the same time.

Jason makes his first appearance after his death. He engages Batman in combat, but is ultimately replaced by Clayface, leading Batman to believe it was Clayface who fought him all along. However, Jason's grave is found to be empty.

Todd sought revenge on the Joker for killing him and on Batman for failing to avenge him. In the final confrontation, Batman saves the Joker from being killed by Todd. But the Joker triggers an explosive device planted by Todd, causing both of them to disappear.

Jason harbored resentment toward Batman for a long time, feeling that the Dark Knight showed more mercy to villains like the Joker than to his own son. Bruce and Jason were estranged for years, until they fought again, unleashing every pent-up anger, sadness, and helplessness.

After being honest, Bruce admitted that he loves him and that losing a son was a devastating blow. He said he's proud to see him move forward and become a better man despite the pain.

They ate a hamburger, making that moment a turning point for Jason.

Getting to know his new brothers and becoming part of the family again. Although he decided to live in an apartment near the Wayne estate, if his father or brothers need him, Red Hood will be ready. He opened his own motorcycle shop, working closely with people and gathering information amidst the rumors.
