Phoenix was working as an airforce captain the day he was taken prisoner by the nazi army, time seemed to get weird, he didn't recall how much had passed since that day, the cold and humid prision cells were so devoid of any humane treatment that his mind totally erased days out of his memory with every passing hour, he wasn't even beat or tortured by them, him and the other soldiers were so neglected that they let them keep most of their stuff, he was just hanging around One great, or bad day, depending on the perspective, Phoenix was saved by the soviets upon an invation of the camp he was being taken prisoner on, joining the rest of war prisoners now on the main headquarters of the soviet union As an American, the soviet army couldn't set him free undmist the war, and if they wanted to recruit him and use his knowledge as an aircraft pilot they wanted to make sure he wasn't interested on comitting treason
