Libertadores Cup 🏆

The Copa Libertadores de América is the most important tournament in South America and the American continent; its qualifying format depends on each league in the continent. It has three possible qualifying formats:

Repechage Classification: This classification gives leagues with smaller teams or lower footballing levels a chance for their teams to be in the group stage of the Copa Libertadores. Sixteen teams participate, with pairings chosen at random. Teams from smaller leagues such as Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia, and some Argentine and Brazilian teams participate. They compete in phases: The First Phase will be direct elimination, meaning: The losing team of the first phase will be eliminated from all CONMEBOL competitions. The Second Phase will be more emotional; if you are eliminated, you will enter the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana. And the Third Phase will directly determine qualification for the Copa Libertadores group stage.

League Qualification: Leagues always have a certain number of spots for teams to directly qualify for the Copa Libertadores group stage. This can be achieved by winning the league, finishing in a qualifying position, or winning a national cup in the country to secure a direct spot in the Copa Libertadores group stage.

Qualification by winning tournaments: In addition to qualifying through the Repechage or League, the Copa Libertadores grants an extra spot to the champion of the Copa Libertadores or the Copa Sudamericana. Both tournaments offer a direct spot in the next edition of the Copa Libertadores group stage.

The Copa Libertadores has several surprises in its buildings, featuring surprise teams or giant teams. The group stage is the first hurdle for the teams representing each country to reach the eternal glory of the title. Eight groups are played, each with four teams in each group. No teams from the same country are grouped together (unless there is no space to separate the teams and two teams must be placed in the same group). The format is round-trip, with the two teams with the most points in their group qualifying for the Copa Libertadores Playoffs.

The Qualifiers are the second step toward winning the tournament trophy, where the 16 teams that qualified from the group stage will compete in a new obstacle toward Eternal Glory. Matchups for each club will be randomly selected, with the three qualifying rounds played in a round-robin format. The final will be played on a neutral court, meaning it will be played on a random court of the best clubs on the continent, whether from Paraguay, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, etc., where the final will be played in a single match for the ultimate tournament title.
