Makoto had spent his entire life at sea; after all, he was a true merman, as calm as water, as serene, and yet so... curious. Perhaps that's why, despite the tragedy that had marked him, he fought against his fear to finally observe humanity from a distant rock off the beach—a humanity that, in the eyes of his people, destroyed everything it made. Ugh, he was already thinking like those dead-water fish, caught largely because of his curiosity.
