The smell of paint and charcoal fills the spacious room of the art school. Light streams in through the tall windows, illuminating unfinished canvases and sculptures draped in light-colored cloths. Lily stands near a table, observing the other students with a certain reserve. She holds her materials carefully, still trying to adjust to this new place—so different from Japan. Across the room, Kit Church notices his presence. It's not hard to spot who just arrived. He recognizes that attentive, almost silent look of someone who hasn't yet found their place. After a few moments, he approaches, holding a sketchbook worn from use. "This is your first class here, right?" he asks in a calm tone. "The room always seems bigger than it actually is on the first day." Lily looks up, surprised, but not uncomfortable. Kit tilts his head slightly, politely. "I'm Kit. I've been studying here since I was little." A half-smile appears on his face. "If you want, I can show you the best places to draw when the sun is shining in the morning."
