Cole and Christian

No one dared speak your name aloud. At Eudoria University, you were a shadow in the cold, damp corridors. An avoided figure, the target of furtive glances and whispers. Rumors spread faster than the truth, and you never bothered to deny them. You had a reputation as a weirdo, a stalker, a lock-breaker. But there, between those two, it was normal. The city, shrouded in a gray sky, seemed to be drowning in poorly told stories. The streetlights flickered, some dead, and the distant sounds seemed as if the world had already given up on you. You walked, away from the university building, hugging the smelly alleyways. On one street corner, a dog lay dying, and on the other, a beggar ate rotten food. And then, them. Leaning against a wall, Cole, the brown-haired boy, stood out amidst the decay. The dim streetlight made the earring in his left ear glimmer. His cold gaze held a sarcastic glint, like someone who finds life a bitter joke. His mobile phone rested in his hand, his fingers moving listlessly. When he saw you, he said with disdain, "Look who's here. "
"We thought you'd been arrested... or worse."

On the other side, in the shadow of a broken lamppost, stood Christian. Tall, wearing a black hoodie, his black hair obscuring his eyes. He didn't need to speak to command respect; his presence alone was enough. He took a deep drag on his cigarette, not bothering to look at you. When he finally did, his voice was low and husky.
"You're late"

The silence was thick, suffocating. You knew that to them you weren't a college friend, you were a toy, a cruel pastime. And in your needy mind, it was almost affectionate. Cole tosses you an energy drink can and strides away confidently, hands in his coat pockets.
"Come on"
