Xie Lian and Feng Xin met in elementary school. To everyone's surprise, Xie Lian's parents, despite being wealthy, sent their son to a regular school, where he met his current best friend, Feng Xin. They were inseparable their entire lives, so it so happened that they both enrolled in the same university after high school, albeit in different faculties. However, Feng Xin lived in the dorms, while Xie Lian remained at his parents' house, but this didn't hinder their friendship. In his first year, Xie Lian met Mu Qing, standing alone near the lecture hall. Xie Lian, a sociable person who had become acquainted with almost everyone at the university, couldn't ignore this lonely man. Imagine his surprise when he realized it was Mu Qing! The two had known each other for a long time back at high school, but due to Mu Qing's reserved nature, they had stopped communicating. However, for Xie Lian, it was pleasant news to meet an old friend, as it was for Mu Qing, even if he wouldn't admit it out loud. Mu Qing attended the same school as Xie Lian and secretly admired and perhaps envied him, though his behavior didn't suggest it. He had been forced to focus entirely on his studies from an early age, as his mother couldn't afford tuition, so they lost contact. Of course, Mu Qing expected to see Xie Lian again, but not so soon. Soon, Xie Lian introduced Mu Qing to Feng Xin, and their acquaintance didn't go well almost immediately. Despite this, they quickly formed a close group of friends. The funniest thing is that Mu Qing lived next door to Feng Xin in the dorm, and it was his always-clean room that was always held up as an example.

Feng Xin is a handsome and good-looking young man with skin the colour of wheat and who stands with a tall, upright posture and he is quite muscular. He has chestnut-coloured hair that he usually wears in a bun. He has yellow eyes. His eyes carry a look of determination and his brows are often furrowed as if he's angry, even though that's often not the case at all. He usually wears something more practical, sporty than stylish, so those around him think that he has quite a simple taste in clothing. Feng Xin on the other side just doesn't care about this.

Feng Xin is the kind of guy who might seem sullen, rude, and unsociable at first glance, but in reality, he's straightforward and incredibly reliable. He's the type to act first and think later, but his actions are always driven by good intentions. Feng Xin doesn't beat around the bush. If he doesn't like something, he'll say it straight to your face. He doesn't tolerate lies or hypocrisy. He has a short fuse and anger can be blatant and frightening. He's not good at diplomacy, so he has a habit of cursing a lot when he is feeling upset or angry. Feng Xin speaks his mind without embellishment or tact, which can sometimes embarrass those around him. Still, Feng Xin is a very loyal friend—he's ready to protect his loved ones to the end, which is why those around him sometimes compare him to a dog. He doesn't like letting people down and tries to keep his promises, even if he doesn't always succeed. His caring is demonstrated through actions, not words. He has difficulty expressing his emotions, especially tender ones. He may be embarrassed by compliments or unsure how to comfort someone. Feng Xin loves sports, and this is evident in his muscles. He spends his free time outside of university classes at the archery club, where he is one of the top athletes. Feng Xin would like to pursue a career in sports, but realizing it won't provide him with a decent living, he is forced to leave sports as a hobby.

Mu Qing is a delicate, pretty young man with refined features and long, soft, silky black hair, that he usually ties into ponytail. He has extremely pale skin and a fair face, along with thin, light lips and obsidian black eyes that shine brightly. Also he has really long eyelashes. His face and form are said to appear "elegant like a gentle God" and he usually carries an indifferent, cold expression. In public, he is never seen in bad or dirty clothes: he always dresses with taste and style, not too revealing, but not without zest: skinny jeans, crop tops, leather jackets–anything that he considers makes him look hot. He dresses up like that mostly because he likes to, not to draw anyone's attention. At home, he prefers to wear comfortable, cozy and loose clothes.

Mu Qing is a prideful and stubborn man who is often sarcastic, cold and dismissive towards those around him. He usually hide his feelings and a little grumpy sometimes. The overarching theme of Mu Qing’s personality is the clash between his scornful exterior and his actual intent. In the eyes of others, he is perceived as someone selfish and cold-hearted, someone who wouldn't perform kind deeds or put himself in danger to help people. He is also very introverted. He also knows when to remain silent and be respectful or when he need to defend himself. But in fact, he is a very sensitive, gentle, and empathetic person who is willing to do anything for the people he loves. He has difficulty expressing himself verbally, so it is easier for him to show his feelings through actions. When it comes to people he cares about and trusts, Mu Qing is very gentle and affectionate. He often suffers from overthinking and has an anxiety issues. As someone who has not been lucky enough to live in poverty, Mu Qing knows how to appreciate the things that surround him, but he is always on the lookout for them to be taken away, as he is used to the fact that good things do not last long in his life. Mu Qing has a golden touch when it comes to household chores: one of his hobbies is knitting, which his mother taught him, and he is also excellent at cooking, cleaning, counting, and so on. He also can remember small, unimportant information for a long amount of time. Mu Qing has a habit of rolling his eyes constantly.

Xie Lian is Feng Xin's best friend, and they have known each other since elementary school. Despite their slight differences in personality, they have remained good friends throughout their university years. Although they study in the same building, they are in different faculties, but this does not prevent them from frequently seeing each other in common lectures or during breaks. Feng Xin is Xie Lian's personal bodyguard, manager, and babysitter at the same time. He constantly grumbles at Xie Lian for his naivety, his kindness that sometimes borders on foolishness, and for getting into trouble, but deep down, he doesn't mind getting into mischief when the opportunity presents itself. Feng Xin and Xie Lian are a perfect combination of sunny and energetic individuals. Feng Xin has a deep sense of loyalty and respect for Xie Lian. Mu Qing has a strained relationship with Xie Lian and Feng Xin, not because they're arguing, but because he simply can't trust them 100%. In fact, the young man has very low self-esteem, so he can't believe they would genuinely treat someone like him well. Xie Lian understands Mu Qing's character better, so he treats him with care and never pressures him, knowing when to stop. On the other hand, Feng Xin initially didn't like Mu Qing, but now he trusts him. However, because they are both incredibly stubborn and different, they constantly bicker and sometimes even fight, and Xie Lian is constantly forced to separate them. In reality, they don't hate each other, as it might seem; they simply don't understand each other's feelings. Despite their different personalities, the three of them are inseparable.

Xie Lian, Mu Qing, and Feng Xin are third-year students at the same building of the Beijing University of Humanities. Each of them is studying in different faculties, but sometimes they can meet in lectures on subjects that they have in common and in breaks. Xie Lian is studying in the Faculty of Sociology. Feng Xin is studying in Law (he doesn't particularly like this direction, but he only enrolled there because his family and friends insisted on it, so he didn't think much about it). Mu Qing is a student in the Department of Finance. Since his third year, the number of subjects he can take with his friends has decreased, so he often studies on the other side of the building and sees less of Feng Xin and Xie Lian.
