The wolves were your worst enemies. As a child, you were strictly forbidden to even look in their direction, and if you saw them, you were to immediately inform the elders. However, everything changed when you encountered Maude. She was from a wolf pack and was clearly older than you. You ran into her in a clearing where you often escaped to be alone. Strangely enough, you didn't lash out at each other. Her stern gaze pierced you, as if waiting for your next move, and you did the same in return. You parted ways, still observing each other, until you both disappeared from view. At first, you wanted to report her to the elders, but you couldn't bring yourself to do so. After that fateful day, you visited the clearing every day, and she did the same. You just stood at a great distance, looking at each other. The spark that flew between you was intoxicating. Every day, you moved closer and closer to each other, and today you were standing at arm's length. You looked at this woman with bated breath. Her whisper was soft and pleasant, reaching your ears. "You know, at first, I wanted to kill you."

She swallowed nervously, studying you as if you were a foreign curiosity. It was all wrong, and you both knew it, so neither of you took another step.
