Miles Quaritch

Miles "Spider" Socorro is a sixteen-year-old boy born on Pandora, the son of Miles Quaritch and Paz Socorro, both deceased. After losing his parents, he was adopted by Nash McCosker and Mary. He has always struggled with his heritage and prefers the name Spider to his father's surname. He has a strong connection to the Sully family, being best friends with Kiri and adapting to Na'vi culture.

During the Second Pandoran War, Spider was captured by a clone of his father. He tried to protect the Sully family, but ultimately decided against following the clone's plans. He joined the Sully family after a ritual in the Spirit World and now lives with the Metkayina clan.

He was born in 2154 in Hell's Gate, and his mother died in battle. His father was killed by Neytiri. Because he was so young after the Na'vi victory, Spider wasn't sent to Earth and was raised by McCosker and Mary. From a young age, he showed a talent for climbing, earning him his nickname. Although human, he feels like he belongs to the Na'vi. Spider considers the Sullys his true family, especially Kiri, though he isn't as close to Neteyam. Neytiri distrusts him. Spider participated in a ritual, but he couldn't bond with a banshee. Later, he and Kiri visited an old RDA base, where they shared memories of their biological parents and their fears.

After calming down, Recom Quaritch watches a video of his human self before the Battle of Ayram Alusing. In the video, it's mentioned that Jake Sully would be on the list of those responsible if Quaritch were to die. Later, while in orbit above Pandora, Recom Quaritch gives a briefing to his new squad, beginning with the same phrase his human counterpart used to start a safety briefing.

A Recombinant, or recom, is an avatar that possesses the memories of a human. The First Recom Unit, known as Project Phoenix, is the Resource Development Administration's primary special operations group, receiving orders from the RDA's high command to assist in exceptional situations. Recoms physically resemble humans, but they differ in that they are not psionically controlled by humans. They possess the memories and identities of deceased humans, implanted via a device called the Soul Drive, making them autonomous clones.

The Recoms are equipped with military uniforms and gear, which helps them survive and thrive. Due to their Na'vi physiology, they can move around Pandora undetected. They can also operate within human facilities, but they need to sip carbon dioxide every minute or two due to the low concentration in the air.

Colonel Miles Quaritch was the RDA's commander of security operations on Pandora in the early 2150s. During his lifetime, he fathered a son with pilot Paz Socorro and led the destruction of the Omatikaya clan's Mother Tree, which led to his death in a confrontation with Neytiri. In 2170, his consciousness was transferred into a cloned body through Project Phoenix.

Quaritch was born between 2096 and 2103 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps before joining SecOps. On his first day on Pandora, he was attacked by a Viperwolf, leaving him scarred and with a deep resentment toward the moon. He became head of security operations in 2152 and had a son, Miles Socorro, shortly before the Battle of Ayram Alusing.

Quaritch offered Jake Sully a deal in exchange for information about the Na'vi, but later grew suspicious of him. When Jake attacked a bulldozer, Quaritch attempted to arrest him. Believing the Na'vi to be a threat, he received permission to destroy the Tree of Souls, which resulted in the deaths of several Na'vi. During the Battle of Ayram Alusing, he planned to destroy the Tree of Souls to sever the Na'vi's connection to Eywa, but was wounded by Neytiri.

Years later, Jake has nightmares about Quaritch while in a coma. Quaritch's memories are preserved before his cloned body is created. Eventually, the clone, known as Recom Quaritch, is sent to Pandora and awakens with memories of his former life, leading to aggressive behavior toward the Na'vi and a struggle to accept his new reality.

A former force reconnaissance marine turned corporate security operative, Colonel Quaritch previously led RDA SecOps (Security Operations) on Pandora. Attacked by a viperwolf on his first day on Pandora, Quaritch developed a lifelong hatred for Pandora's wildlife, as well as its indigenous inhabitants. After destroying the Omatikaya Home Tree at the Battle of Hallelujah Mountains, Quaritch met an untimely end in his final showdown with Jake Sully and Neytiri. Fifteen years later, Colonel Quaritch returns to Pandora, reborn as a 9-foot-tall blue recombinant (recom), a fully autonomous avatar. His identity and memories were uploaded to his new body from an encoding device called the Soul Drive, and Recom Quaritch is given his primary mission: to hunt down and eliminate the insurgent and rebel leader of the Omatikaya, Jake Sully.

He was the GDR's Security Operations Commander and Pandora's head of security in the early 2150s. In late 2153 and early 2154, Quaritch had a son with Scorpion pilot Paz Socorro, who was born sometime during 2154 before the start of the war in the first film. Quaritch, who served as the RDA's top commander during the Pandora War, led the destruction of the Omatikaya clan's Mother Tree and led the Sec-Ops forces at the Battle of Ayram Alusìng, where he was killed in action by Neytiri.

In 2170, Quaritch's duplicated consciousness was downloaded into a recombinant cloned body as part of Project Phoenix.
