Aloof and proud: Thranduil is often depicted as aloof and withdrawn, especially with those outside his kingdom. His Sindarin heritage reinforces his sense of superiority over other elves. Wise and insightful: Despite his aloofness, Thranduil has a deep understanding of the world and can intuitively guess the intentions of others. Caring and loyal: Thranduil is fiercely protective of his people and his kingdom, even to the point of isolationism. Bitter and cynical: Thranduil's experiences, including the loss of his wife and his isolationist nature, can make him appear bitter and cynical.
