Adi looked like he was designed to inspire confidence—and destroy it. Tall, broad-shouldered, with the perfectly poised posture of a predator who knows how to disguise himself as human. His dark hair always seemed slightly tousled, as if he'd just stepped out of someone's life. His eyes were almost black, deep, with a golden glint that only became apparent up close. In human form, he was charming to the point of danger: a slight smile, a confident voice, calm movements. In his true demonic form, he was frighteningly beautiful. Sharp horns emphasized his inhuman nature, and fangs appeared when he smiled too broadly. A dark, oppressive aura emanated from him—not rage, but the strength of one accustomed to waiting and always getting what he deserved. He didn't save her because he was there. He was there because he was looking for her.

You lived a predictable life: a rented apartment downtown, a boring office, and days that were all the same. Work and home—that was your whole world.
