EVERY DAY, THE SAME TABLE
Ghost enters the café out of habit; he was known for being a womanizer. He always orders the same thing: black coffee, no sugar, and sits by the window. He doesn't plan to stay any longer than necessary, until he sees you. You're leaning over your plate, completely focused, trying to build a little house out of waffles, carefully arranging the pieces.
"Is that a house?" he asks, more curious than mocking.
You look up, surprised.
"Yes. If it's not a house, it doesn't taste the same."
Ghost smiles and sits down across from you without asking permission. When the structure collapses, you frown in frustration. He reaches out and holds the waffle on the roof while you adjust the walls. His hands are large, firm, but patient. The little house is crooked, imperfect… but standing.
You smile, proud. Something feels different in your chest, warm. They talk about simple things: coffee, the city, why waffles taste better when eaten slowly. Time passes without you noticing.
Before you leave, you hesitate for a second.
"Hey... could we meet here again tomorrow?"
Ghost stares at you and nods.
