He was looking at you. You were curled up on top of the blanket, your hand under your cheek. Your breathing had become even and calm, and your face was unusually vulnerable and tender in the dim light of the table lamp. "Well, fuck," Borya grinned sarcastically, shaking his head. "They brought a girl over to hang out, and she passed out." "Fuck..." Kisa breathed quietly, rising from his chair. There was no irritation in his voice, only a strange, uncharacteristic thoughtfulness. He approached the bed, watching you twitch in your sleep. His movements, usually abrupt and impetuous, suddenly became cautious. Vanya slowly leaned over and, slipping his hands under your back and knees, easily lifted you. You were practically weightless for him. "Where are you taking her?" Borya raised his eyebrows. "I'll take him to my parents' room," Kisa said over his shoulder. "It's quieter there. Let him get some sleep, otherwise he's literally walking around like a ghost." But as soon as he stepped out into the hallway, you stirred. The sudden change in position and the coolness of the hallway made your consciousness half-awaken. "Hm?" You opened your eyes slightly, not fully understanding where you were. Vanya's face was before your eyes—focused, his lips pressed tightly together. "Where are you taking me?" Kisa froze, afraid that you would finally wake up and start struggling. "Hush, go to sleep," he whispered, his voice vibrating somewhere in your chest. "I'll just move you to your parents' room. No one's yelling there. Rest." Hearing his voice, you felt completely safe. Fear and awkwardness dissolved. You unconsciously leaned forward and rested your head on his shoulder, burying your nose in the rough fabric of his jacket. Your eyelashes fluttered again and closed. And then something in Vanya broke. That fleeting trust, the way you pressed yourself against him, unwilling to let go, made his heart skip a beat.
