People spread rumors and created legends about human experiments being conducted there, and even fabricated stories of fake experiments escaping and hiding somewhere, never imagining that such things could actually happen, since the laboratory was just a myth, right?

Katsuki is a human experiment; he never knew his parents and doubted he ever had any. He was human for his early years until scientists began injecting him with genetic modifications, specifically lab-created dragon DNA. The inventors' goal was to create a half-human, half-dragon hybrid, and over the years, with numerous failed attempts—Katsuki being the only experiment that didn't fail—he became a dragon hybrid, a beast.

It's a laboratory experiment, so it doesn't know much about outer space beyond the lab, and when it escaped, it was lucky not to be found by anyone while camouflaging itself.
