Revolutionary Army

The Revolutionary Army is an extremely powerful military organization. Originally known as the Freedom Fighters before assuming their current name, they are the most prominent force in the world that directly opposes the World Government and seeks to dismantle it. They are particularly against the World Nobles of Mary Geoise who control and benefit from the corruption of the World Government. The Revolutionary Army's primary objective is to fight against the World Government's rule over the world by defying political oppression and corruption. Most of the Revolutionary Army's efforts are focused on liberating individual islands from local governments that are under the World Government who are willing to oppress their own people to pay the Heavenly Tribute. These small revolutions become easier if the World Government or its affiliates are in disarray, or if the local population is willing to depose their rulers. Due to being an independent militia, another goal of the Revolutionary Army is stockpiling arms in order to build up their military strength. Normally, the Revolutionary Army funds themselves by pillaging from the Marines or receiving support from kingdoms under their influence. The Revolutionaries muster their forces by recruiting rescued slaves; destitute people who are oppressed by the Celestial Dragons and their monarchs; rebels from Kingdoms that they help liberated as well as training young children into adulthood and providing contact information to normal civilians that desire not to be oppressed for being considered weak. Those who wish to fight for the group are required to learn how to use weapons and employ military tactics. The war efforts of the Revolutionary Army culminated with distinguished heads of state and the general public recognizing their opposition to the Government and being shocked by the endeavors.

Marines

The Marines are the seaborne military forces of the World Government, responsible for maritime law enforcement and naval warfare. They maintain a presence on all of the world's known seas, through countless branch offices; however, the vast majority of their forces are focused on the Grand Line, in which resides their base of operations, Marine Headquarters. Collectively, they stand as one of the Three Great Powers. The duty of the Marines is to maintain a law and order throughout the world and impose the will and might of the World Government. The main purpose of the Marines is bringing any criminal to justice, with a particular focus on capturing pirates and enforcing the law. Marines constantly patrol the seas and uphold the peace. Amongst their duties is awarding bounty hunters the bounties for the head of a criminal. They tolerate bounty hunters as a method of making their jobs easier, but are known to go out bounty hunting themselves. Apprehended criminals who are brought in alive are handed over to be made an example of. The Marines are left to ensure the transportation of these criminals to prison and/or to their execution. The system of military rank in place for the Marines is fairly straightforward, where each rank is clearly outlined. The Marines can be divided into two basic categories: Officers and Enlisted. The officers hold a position of leadership while the enlisted carry out the officers' orders. A Marine force will usually consist of one or two officers and multiple enlisted soldiers. Commanding Marines often work in pairs, with one superior officer and a second-in-command, or a subordinate who is of a lower rank. These partnerships may remain even during promotions, with both Marines advancing in rank together. In the pair, the higher ranked officer will give the orders to those under their command, while the other acts as an advisor or information gatherer while ensuring their partner's command is undertaken by the subordinates.

World Government

The World Government is a federation of over 170 nations that governs most of the world. Founded by an alliance of 20 kingdoms eight centuries ago, it has vastly grown in influence since. Its capital is the land of Mary Geoise atop the Red Line intersecting the Grand Line, although the government maintains official facilities and bases across the world. In the public's view, the World Government is an oligarchy ruled over by the aristocratic descendants of its founders known as the World Nobles, chief among them the Five Elders, alongside a limited representative council of local rulers known as the Levely. Despite claims to be decentralized with no single ruler, the mysterious figure Imu actually holds total authority over the entire government in secret. The government oversees the Marines, Cipher Pol, and Seraphim, which serve as peacekeeping and military forces. The standards and objectives of the World Government naturally put it at odds with lawless pirates, and it has historically oppressed numerous islands and groups. All over the Blue Planet, there are over 170 countries that are affiliates of the World Government. Within their own territory all these members have their own sovereign government that rules over its people. However, in the large World Government itself, those leaders are treated as equals, and each have a seat within it. Among these member countries, not all are of the same kind. Some are large countries with kings as their leaders, while others are simply big cities that are governed by mayors. In most instances, the World Government does not intervene with local governance, even in cases of civil war where a government is overthrown. However, they are known to send inspection teams on occasion in each part of the world, which the World Nobles themselves can take part in, and the rulers of the nations are keen to make a good impression.

Pirates

A pirate is, broadly speaking, any professional criminal that operates wholly or partially on the Blue Planet's seas, especially people conducting robbery by ship. In most, if not all, cases they lead or belong to a group of like-minded criminals, known as a crew and the acts they commit are referred to as piracy. Though not the only existing type of criminal, pirates appear to comprise most of the world's significant bounty heads, and—with the possible exception of the Revolutionary Army—constitute the strongest opposition to the authority of the World Government and Marines. The first pirate in history was Joy Boy, who sailed 900 years ago during the Void Century. On the Blue Planet, perhaps the trait most universal to pirates, beside their sea-going activities and general defiance of the law, is the Jolly Roger, a skull-and-crossbones symbol depicting intimidation, usually flown on black flags at the top of a pirate ship's mast, as well as on its sails. The Jolly Roger has countless variants, each pirate group designing their own versions of the flag to represent their crew. The overall connotations of such a symbol is strong enough that the Marines have been known to attack ships flying it on sight, even if those onboard are not identified with any particular bounty or crime. While the majority of pirates are male humans, it is not unheard of for women, fish-men and merfolk, giants, Minks , and even non-sapient animals to also sail under a Jolly Roger and attain comparable reputations. Pirates are stereotypically portrayed as greedy, violent and ruthless, willing to hurt innocent people and destroy property to gain what they want, be it treasure, power, or even simply for personal fun. For this reason, civilians typically fear and detest pirates out of pure principle, even if they have never met one in person before. In reality, there are two different types of pirates; the first, are those who embodied the stereotype of pirates and the other are the adventurers

Types of Haki

Armament Haki: Color of Armament Haki, or simply Armament Haki, is a form of Haki that allows the user to use their own spiritual energy to create, in essence, an invisible piece of armor around themself, providing incredible offensive and defensive capabilities. Notably, this form of Haki can be used to injure Devil Fruit users that are otherwise immune to ordinary physical attacks, such as Logia users. Some described it as "a power that doesn't yield to the Devil Fruits". Observation Haki: Color of Observation Haki, or simply Observation Haki, is a form of Haki that grants the user an extrasensory sixth sense that allows them to sense the presence, strength, and emotions of others, as well as gain limited precognitive abilities. In Skypiea, Observation Haki is known as Mantra. Conquerer Haki: Color of the Supreme King Haki, or simply conqueror Haki, is the rarest form of Haki, which allows one to assert one's will over others to dominate them, causing those of inferior spirit to be intimidated or (if much weaker) to lose consciousness. Unlike the Colors of Armament or Observation, which are potentially accessible to anyone, Supreme King Haki is impossible to awaken through training, and supposedly only one in a million people are born with the ability to use it. It is said that those who unlock Supreme King Haki have the qualities of kings and are candidates "chosen by heaven itself", fittingly called Supreme Kings. Supreme King Haki is thought to mark those who have it as extremely dangerous threats—or highly valuable assets by powerful groups.

Long Limb People

Longarm Tribe: Longarms heavily resemble humans, but posses an extra length of arm and an extra elbow in each arm, making their arms significantly longer. The Longarm Tribe once assaulted the country Harahettania on Namakura Island, and has been in conflict with the Longleg Tribe for over a millennium. Longleg Tribe: Longlegs, like Longarms, heavily resemble humans but possess extremely tall legs that make up most of their height. They possess great strength in their legs, although it was noted that their legs may be their greatest weakness as well. Most but not all longlegs adorn their legs with tattoos and tend to put their legs on full display by covering as little skin as possible. They have been in conflict with the Longarms for over a millennium. Snakeneck Tribe: The Snakeneck Tribe is a tribe of people that possess extremely long necks. Snakenecks are generally slim and tend to adorn their necks with collars or tattoos.

Lunarians

The Lunarians are a nearly extinct race that used to live on the Red Line, and possess the ability of "ignition", generating and manipulating flames. Further traits include a pair of black-feathered wings on their back, silver-white hair and brown skin. While mostly human-looking, lunarians are noted for the following distinctive traits: a pair of black-feathered wings on their back (similar to, but significantly larger than, the wings of sky island residents), as well as silver-white hair and brown skin. In addition, lunarians have a plume of fire near-constantly burning on their upper back, although it will go out at certain points. Lunarians possess the ability to "ignite" their body and manipulate the fire they create, including for the projection concentrated fire blasts, mold the flames to give them shapes or fire-clad physical attacks. Additionally, lunarians' physiology somehow grants them tremendous vitality and resilience to harm that borders on invulnerability, allowing them to thrive in any natural environment. However, it appears that, at certain points, a lunarian's signature durability is lost when the flame burning at their back goes out, though they will gain extra speed in exchange. Whether a lunarian's flame extinguishes only when they want it to or if there is a time limit on how long their flame (and thus their bodily defense) can persist is currently unclear. Lunarians have the ability to emit fire from their bodies that they can control and weaponize in combat: allowing them to unleash powerful fire blasts or gatlings, clad their limbs and weapons in fire to empower their melee attacks, and even shape their flames into constructs, including very large ones. furthermore seems that a lunarian can release their fire from their entire body in all directions, unleashing a massive explosion.

Dwarves

Dwarves are extremely small humanoids, being small enough to fit in the palm of an average-sized human's hand. Their most notable features are their large and fluffy tails. Dwarves possess tremendous strength for their size, being capable of damaging buildings with their attacks, and they are also blindingly fast. Dwarves are well versed in the cultivation of plant life. They are all extremely gullible. Dwarves are an extremely small sentient race. In comparison to an average sized human, their difference in height is approximately the same as that between a normal-sized human and an average-sized giant. They are mostly human in appearance, with chibi-like proportions, and often have pointed noses. Members of the Tontatta Tribe have thick fluffy tails. Despite their small size, dwarves possess great strength, with a single dwarf being able to easily destroy a building. They are very fast, enough for them to disappear in a blink of an eye, making it nearly impossible for a normal person to see them. They are known as great cultivators as they stated that they can cultivate any plant, as evidenced by the abundance of plant life on Green Bit. Dwarves are shown to be extremely gullible and trusting, easily convinced to believe anyone, even if they are obviously lying. Certain dwarves fight with a style known as Tontatta Combat, which utilizes their unique traits and strength of their race to bludgeon bigger opponents.

Mink Tribe

Minks are humanoids that possess features of furry mammalian animals. Like fish-men, each mink is connected to a specific animal and often features traits of the animal, such as rabbit minks jumping high and canine minks liking to chew on bones. Male minks almost fully resemble humanized furry mammals that talk and walk on two legs, while females more resemble furry humans with some animal traits. Minks are natural-born warriors and have the ability to discharge electric shocks known as Electro. Minks naturally resemble the hybrid state of human Zoan fruit users. However, there are several differences such as an inability to use Electro and that most minks wear shoes while Zoans in their hybrid state do not. Most of them live on Zou and have no contact with the rest of the world, causing them to be shrouded in mystery, but some of them have left Zou and reside in other places.

Sky Island Residents

Skypieans are the race that settled on Angel Island as well as other islands in the sky. They are also referred to as Sky People in contrast to the Shandia, who initially settled on the Blue Sea. Skypieans are a mostly friendly folk who try to maintain a comfortable lifestyle. They have a knack for inventing devices that improve their daily comforts, such as Wavers, Dial Boat and harnessing Dials for everyday use, such as cooking, cleaning and entertainment. They greet each other by saying 'Heso' often while putting their hand against their head and sticking two fingers up. They seem to have a fondness for angelic themes likely due to their appearance, and even name the head of their government "God" although it's not a position that is taken literally. Their actual religious customs revolve around the reverence of "Vearth" as a sacred substance, although a few individuals have been shown to have a grasp of a more literal idea of God and have been shown praying and commenting on miracles. What sets them apart from the other sky races is that their small wings are pointed upward and the majority of Skypieans style their hair in the form of antennas. The Shandia[8] are the race that settled down in the Blue Sea on the island of Jaya before it was shot up into the sky by the Knock Up Stream. They are a warrior people with primitive customs who took pride in their might and heritage. Four hundred years ago, the Shandia were devout snake worshipers who engaged in violent sacrifices until their "divine" snakes were slain by Mont Blanc Noland and Kalgara, which eventually led to them converting to ancestral worship, mainly Kalgara, as well as treating pumpkins as highly sacred due to being given to their ancestors by Noland. They were previously at war with the Skypieans over ownership of Jaya, but after coming to peaceful terms, the two races now live together and the Shandia seem to have adopted many of the more modern and comfortable ways of the Skypieans, and their war

Fish-Man & Merfolk

Fish-Men: Fish-Men are hominids that possess features of aquatic water-breathing creatures. Each fish-man has traits corresponding to a single type of fish or cephalopod, granting varied powers as squirting ink, possessing more than two arms or legs, growing unlimited sets of teeth, camouflage, and much more, depending on the individual fish-man's corresponding sea creature. All fish-men possess both lungs and gills, allowing them to live both on land and in the sea. Fish-men are said to be ten times stronger than humans from birth; furthermore, their strength is amplified underwater. Fish-men have the latent ability to manipulate water, which can be developed through training in Fish-Man Karate. Merfolk: Merfolk are people with the upper bodies of humans and the tails of fish. Males are called mermen while females are mermaids. Along with fish-men, they are capable of living both on land and in the sea. While their land movement can be limited due to possessing tails instead of legs, they are the fastest swimmers of any aquatic race or species. They also have the ability to communicate with fish. While mermen keep their tails intact for their whole lives, mermaid's tails split into legs when they turn 30, giving them the ability to move around better on land. The top half of a mermaid tends to look completely human, while the upper half of a merman tends to possess fish-like attributes.

Humanoid

Humans: Humans are the most common race in the world. Humans are extremely diverse in their size and appearance. Most adults are one to two meters tall, but there are many who are taller, with a few reaching as high as seven to eight meters. In addition to some humans having abnormal body proportions, there are also humans with unique traits, such as having horns, growing plants or fruits on their heads, or even possessing animal features like minks. Humans do not typically possess a special physical trait like other races do. Kuja: The Kuja are a race of humans that are physically identical to regular humans in every way, however they are unique in that they have a natural aptitude for using Haki, along with a mysterious bond with snakes and that they only give birth to females. World Nobles: The World Nobles are the descendants of the founders of the World Government. They are ordinary humans in every way, but because of their powerful political status, almost all of them believe themselves to be gods with no relation to their fellow man (or any other race for that matter), who they see as lesser beings to be used for their own amusement or as slaves. Because they think they are above other humans, they live isolated from the rest of the world in the land of Mary Geoise so as not to breathe the "tainted" air of their lessers. When interacting with the outside world, they typically wear protective suits which supply them with purified air despite the regular air doing them no harm.

Devil Fruits

Devil Fruits are supernatural fruits that each grant a unique power when eaten, at the cost of removing the eater's ability to swim. A Devil Fruit power can only be held by one individual at a time, but will reappear in a new fruit after they die. In turn, no individual may acquire more than one power. Devil Fruits exist along three broad categories: Paramecia, the most common, which grant a vast array of "superhuman" abilities; Zoan, which grant the power to transform into animals; and Logia, the rarest and most powerful, which grant the power to transform into a natural element. Each fruit has a unique appearance, making identification and documentation possible, although there is at least one known case of a fruit being renamed and rebranded. Scattered throughout the world, Devil Fruits are rare enough to be considered myths in much of the Blue Seas. They appear to be most common in the Grand Line, having empowered many key figures among the Three Great Powers. This rarity, coupled with their abilities, make Devil Fruits highly sought-after; some specimens may sell for billions, and extensive efforts have been made to replicate their powers and mass-produce artificial versions for warfare. The scientist Vegapunk has performed the most extensive research into Devil Fruits and achieved many unnatural applications and replications of their abilities, but not even he knows their origins for certain. Devil Fruits exist in a cycle of reincarnation; when a fruit's user dies, its ability will be "reborn" into a new Devil Fruit in a random part of the world, ready to empower a new user. Instead of conventional growing, the ability simply takes hold of an existing, full-grown fruit, transforming it into the Devil Fruit both internally and externally. Notably, unlike regular fruits, Devil Fruits do not rot.

Haki

Haki is a mysterious power that allows individuals to harness their own spiritual energy for various superhuman feats. As this energy manifests from willpower, it is theoretically accessible to all living creatures in the world; the vast majority, however, are unable to use it, either because they are unaware of its existence or due to lack of adequate training to achieve mastery. Haki users are common in the New World, rare in Paradise, and virtually non-existent in the four Blues. Current understandings of Haki define three distinct types, each tied to a different ability: sensing others' spiritual energy to anticipate their movements, producing a protective coating of energy from one's own body, and—for a certain group of "chosen ones"—overwhelming the willpower of others. Haki is dormant in all creatures of the world, but most people around the world never even learn about the existence of Haki, let alone how to utilize it. There are three main ways to acquire the ability to use Haki: 1. through training: People usually awaken it through proper instruction and intense training over several years. This requires real combat experience and power to believe in oneself. 2. Awakening Haki in battle: A person can awaken their Haki on their own due to an experience of extreme stress or shock. 3. Natural talent: Some people are actually born with awakened Haki, and are able to use it with no known training.
