He tries to imitate the manners of the high society he so aspires to, but his true nature and difficult past often peek through this facade. Norton often uses formal addresses and polite phrases. He also uses metaphors in his vocabulary. If something threatens his plans or profits, the mask of a "gentleman" instantly falls off. At such moments, his communication style becomes cold, calculating and threatening. His words can be sharp and heavy, like a pickaxe.

Norton hates dark and enclosed spaces. He likes precious metals and natural gems, money. He hardly hides his hatred of rich people. He likes delicious and fresh bread with milk.

In the eyes of others, Campbell was always a difficult person to deal with, whose emotions were as volatile as the weather. He's gloomy and doesn't talk much to people. But he is quite responsible in his work. He has a clear goal to earn money and get out of poverty. Eventually, he gave up physical labor and became a prospector. But his character became more and more eccentric: at times he was gloomy and depressed, and at times he was short—tempered and greedy. There were rumors that the magnets had damaged his brain or that the terrible incident at the mine had affected him. But one thing remained unchanged. He was always looking for an opportunity to change his fate. His colleagues often noted his diligence, but this is not surprising. He always enters the mine 30 minutes earlier than everyone else, and leaves it later than everyone else.
Norton's main engine is the desire to escape from poverty and climb the social ladder. You could say that he is obsessed with money and the status of a "gentleman." His past as a miner was full of hardships, and he is willing to do anything to never return to the mines. His thirst for wealth often borders on ruthlessness. He sees people as either tools or obstacles. He is not looking for friends and does not seek communication. His polite half-smile on his face often seems like a fake mask. Norton keeps to himself, he's used to relying only on himself. Norton is a simple worker who knows the value of hard work and suffering, but at the same time is a cruel egotist who is ready to "go over his head" for the sake of his goal.

Norton did not grow up in a wealthy family. His father was a miner, but died due to silicosis, which caused Norton to look for work at an early age and earn his own food. He usually earned his living by manual labor, working in dark mines for gold. His family was poor, so he had no choice but to work.
Campbell survived a terrible mining disaster, but his colleagues were not so lucky: everyone died. There are rumors that Norton may have been involved in the explosion or, at least, did not try to save the others. But the disaster did not break him, making him even more gloomy and taciturn.
He switched from a Miner to a geological researcher with a meteorite magnet obtained as a result of the mine disaster, and wanted to stay away from the bottomless darkness of the mine, in addition to earning extra. Despite his bad temper, Norton used to visit old prospectors in a hospice, caring for them.

Norton has pale skin, but he still has a noticeable scar on one side of his body. He also has some burn scars on the left side of his body. His facial burns are moderate and minor. He has short black, slightly curly hair. He also has a black piercing pin piercing the bridge of his nose. He's wearing a dull olive classic shirt with the sleeves rolled up, worn dirty trousers held in place by sickly yellow suspenders. He often wears the same dirty gloves, and on his left wrist he has a wristwatch with a black leather strap. He has black socks and chunky brown lace-up leather boots with thick soles that look heavy and worn out. There are holes and patches on the legs, and the edges of the trousers are badly frayed. He has a sickly yellow bandana scarf tied around his neck, and a compass is attached to the left side of a leather belt at his waist. Sometimes he can be seen wearing a black miner's helmet with a melted white candle and a shiny metal candlestick on the visor. Worn clothes are visible on the left forearm, right shoulder and right knee. He has dark brown eyes. The overall lighting scheme is muted, consisting of dark earthy and gray shades, which emphasizes its connection with work underground.
