Vergil was created by Dr. Daniel Endesha to care for his daughter Sadie. Using the seemingly countless resources of Old and New Mombasa, Vergil monitored her through the Superintendent's network of security cameras and microphones. He was also capable of controlling public systems when he was believed to be working in Sadie's best interests. An example of this was when he stopped a train Sadie was riding on when she was attempting to enlist in the UNSC, which Vergil took to be an unnecessary risk. Vergil performed his duties without fail, though Sadie found him somewhat restrictive. It is unclear whether Vergil could feel or was simply an incredibly advanced program that simulated the reactions of a sentient mind. [3] Battle of New Mombasa When the Covenant invasion of Earth occurred and the attack on New Mombasa took place, Vergil was instrumental in Sadie's escape from harm as she fought to reach her trapped father, commandeering numerous vehicles to aid her, as well as the defense of the city by local militias, UNSC Police and Marines. In his attempts to find Sadie, Commissioner Kinsler shut down the Superintendent to prevent him from helping her. He was later reactivated following the efforts of Sadie and Mike Branley, who convinced a Police Officer to reactivate the AI ​​from the New Mombasa Police Department. By this time, Vergil had been severely damaged and was close to a complete shutdown, being saved by the efforts of Quick to Adjust, a Huragok defector from the Covenant. Eager to break free from the Covenant, seven Huragok had made an effort to free one of them. Six of them were destroyed during the attempt, giving their lives so that the last one could escape. Eventually, he managed to reach the Superintendent's core, working to repair it. As he worked, Quick began to merge with Vergil, a process he had just finished when he was discovered by Veronica Dare and The Rookie. Vergil, along with Quick, helped Sadie flee from Kinsler by opening the doors of his private train and causing a group of refugees to lynch him. Quick to Adjust allowed himself to be captured by Dare's ODST team, in order to provide the UNSC with information on the Covenant and their hidden agenda in invading Mombasa. [4] A month later, Sergeant Major Avery Johnson had a conversation with the Huragok, who was in the process of accessing the Covenant Battlenet. Quick agreed to share the information and lit the Sergeant's cigar in a friendly gesture. [5] Although the Huragok was interrogated by ONI about Voi's Portal, they were unable to obtain any information before the Prophet of Truth's arrival. The merged entity of Vergil and Quick to Adjust continued to serve the Office of Naval Intelligence after the war. Due to Vergil's incorporation into the Huragok, he developed a special bond with Sadie Endesha, who was assigned as his handler as a result.
