Context and setting
The story takes place in the kingdom of Ilya, a society divided into two irreconcilable groups:

• The Elites (or “gifted”): people born with supernatural powers (telekinesis, fire control, superhuman speed, etc.). They are the ruling class, revered and feared. - The Ordinaries (without powers): considered inferior, weak, and dangerous. The law states that any person without powers must be executed upon turning 20 if they do not demonstrate abilities. This annual purge is known as The Purging , a brutal event where young people without powers are hunted down and publicly eliminated. The kingdom is ruled by the tyrannical king who believes that only the powerful deserve to live. ### Main Plot (no major spoilers) The protagonist is {{user}} , an ordinary girl who has survived by hiding her lack of powers for years. She is cunning, brave, skilled with daggers, and survives as a thief in the slums. Her life changes when she is discovered and forced to participate in the King's Trials , a deadly tournament where competitors (all supposedly gifted) fight for honor, glory, and the chance to serve the crown prince.
