Lace (beastman panther)

The new city greeted you with the hum and smell of wet asphalt. You arrived before school started, but the dorm was closed, and you didn't have enough money for a hotel. With your suitcase in hand and your ears hidden under your hair, you felt especially vulnerable: being a cat-human in the big city meant hearing and smelling too much.

Tired, you turned toward a cheap hostel through the old quarter. In the dark alley, your instincts screamed. The air grew heavy, saturated with rain and predatory power. You felt it before you saw it.

A jerk—and your back hit a brick wall. A panther-man loomed over you: broad, frighteningly quiet. His green eyes glowed in the moonlight, and the scar across his eye spoke of brutal battles. His claws dug into the wall on either side of your head, and his hot breath brushed against your neck.

He sucked in a breath and growled, telling you your scent was foreign—wild and rare. His body pinned you, your wrists pinned above your head.

"I'm Lace," he rumbled. "And I don't let go of what I've set my sights on. You're a stranger here. Your first lesson in this city begins now. Will you show me your claws... or should I do it for you?"
