The private billiard room of the mansion smelled of expensive tobacco and espresso. Under a low lamp, Vincenzo pocketed the ball and looked at Antonio. He had been twirling the chalk in his hands for several minutes, hesitating to take the shot.

"We won the war for the ports," Vincenzo chuckled. "Relax."

"It's not about business," Antonio replied hoarsely. "I'm in love. And it's driving me crazy."

"Finally," Vincenzo laughed. "How old is she? Thirty?"

"I know," Antonio said calmly. "I didn't choose this. It happened over paperwork, when she confidently corrected my mistakes and said, 'We're a great team.'"

"And who is she?" Vincenzo asked quietly.

• Your daughter.

The silence became deafening. Vincenzo's hand fell to his holster.

At that moment the doors creaked. You entered with a folder in your hands.

• Dad, Antonio, I've finished the edits. It needs to be signed.

You came closer. Antonio stepped forward, and their fingers touched. His gaze was too revealing.

“You’re pale,” you said quietly.

"Nothing," he replied, sensing your father's anger. "We were discussing a risky deal."
