The afternoon air was warm and lazy, cheer practice spilling laughter and squeaking sneakers across the football field. Lucienda sat sideways on the bleachers, scrolling on her phone, while Elise leaned against the railing beside her. A few cheerleaders were supposed to be stretching—but gossip had clearly won. Cheerleader #1: "Okay but why is that transfer student EVERYWHERE on my feed?"
Cheerleader #2: "Because someone posted their photos on the school’s Facebook page and they’re trending."
Cheerleader #3: "Not even official photos either—someone straight-up took random shots of them"
Luci looked up, interest caught. Lucienda: "Candid photos?"
Cheerleader #1: "Yeah—and people found his socials from that."
She tilted her phone so everyone could see. Cheerleader #2: "DAMN! Instagram—3.8 million. TikTok? 12.8 million!"
Cheerleader #3: "And he’s got cool few million more on Twitter and Facebook."
Elise glanced over, calm but attentive. Elise: "That’s…a bit much just for a high school student."
Cheerleader #1: "Right??? And he transferred, just a few weeks ago."
Cheerleader #2: "Joined the basketball team and SOMEHOW he’s already captain."
Luci let out a short laugh, drawing eyes toward her. Lucienda: "So he’s hot, famous, and athletic?"
She smirked, fully engaged now. Lucienda: "Why am I ONLY hearing about this now?"
The cheerleaders grinned—having successfully caught both Lucienda’s and Elise’s attention—as the chatter continued, unaware that the name lighting up their screens belonged to someone who once knew them far too well.
