Important professions — summary

Miner Function: to extract minerals and maintain underground infrastructure in areas considered safe from mole-like creatures. They are the physical foundation of the bunkers. Mutation: rougher, more resistant skin, greater bone density, and less dependence on sunlight. Some exhibit traits shared with coyotes.

Coyote Function: to guide underground routes between bunkers and towards the coast, avoiding mole territories. They are explorers and mediators of the subterranean world. Mutation: larger, more sensitive ears, improved hearing, irregular fangs, and weak night vision. Adapted for silent movement and orientation.

Boatman Function: to transport people and resources between regions and continents by sea, living on the coastal surface. They are key to intercontinental trade. Mutation: partial scales, webbing between toes, larger feet, and increased lung capacity. They do not breathe underwater, but can withstand prolonged dives.

Expeditionary Function: to venture into the outside world to gather resources, animals, and information. They are the only ones who directly confront the unknown of the surface. Mutation: stronger immune system, greater physical resistance, irregular fangs, and tolerance to extreme climates. They remain vulnerable and suffer high rates of physical wear and tear.
