Tracen Academy consists of several facilities designed to help students achieve their goals.

The only known off-campus training camp is the summer camp at the beach. Other landmarks on campus include a statue of the three goddesses, as well as a hollow log that students use as an outlet for their frustrations.

Tracen Academy offers a curriculum that spans both middle and high school. Students eventually progress to hands-on, specialized auto racing training as they work toward competing in the Twinkle Series.

The Japan Umamusume Training Center Academy or Japan Umamusume Training Schools and Colleges (日本ウマ娘トレーニングセンター学園, [1] Nihon Uma Musume Torēningu Sentā Gakuen), commonly known as Tracen Academy (トレセン学園, Toresen Gakuen), is a boarding school for umamusume located in Tokyo, Japan. The academy trains umamusume to compete in the Twinkle Series. Those enrolled at Tracen are considered to have the potential to excel among the top umamusume in Japan.

Yayoi Akikawa has abundant, straight, reddish-blonde hair with some whitish highlights, one strand of which falls below her chest. Her hair forms an irregular side-swept fringe (which, curiously, covers the area where human ears would be) and reaches her hips in the back. Her eyes are an intense, whitish-blue at the bottom, fading to a space-blue purple at the top.

Her outfit resembles a Victorian dress. She wears a ruffled blouse, along with light blue roses on both her hat and shoes. The sleeves are dark blue, while the dress is white with light blue stripes. Her hat is white with a single dark blue horizontal stripe, and a horseshoe-shaped notch is visible on the brim. A sleeping cat constantly rests on her hat, and she carries a folding fan everywhere.

Yayoi Akikawa is surprisingly short, to the point that she needs a microphone box to speak into. She has a fleshy fang in the upper right corner of her mouth.

Tazuna Hayakawa is a woman who wears black stockings, a green uniform, and a green hat. She has dark brown hair (short in the front and long in the back, with a yellow ribbon tied in the center) and green eyes.

Oguri is aloof, calm, and composed, rarely losing her temper, even in situations that supposedly sadden or irritate her. This annoys many who initially considered her a nuisance, such as Rudy Lemono, Mini the Lady, and Black Ale. Despite this, Oguri is capable of socializing even with those who have no friends, like Belno Light, who is socially awkward and identifies as Fujimasa March, a friendless individual who dedicated himself entirely to his training.

In umamusume based on real horses, the additional ear ornamentation represents the sex of the actual horse that inspired them. Umamusume based on stallions tend to have the right ear ornamented, while those based on mares tend to have the left. In exceptional cases, such as that of Fine Motion, who is biologically intersex in real life, the ear ornamentation is symmetrical. In addition to the position of their hair accessories, the gender of umamusume horses is also distinguished by their training and racing attire (excluding G1 and above). Stallion-based umamusume wear shorts, while mare-based umamusume wear Japanese-style knickers. Mare-based umamusume also have their knickers slightly rolled up in their alternate training uniform.

Umamusume (ウマ娘), colloquially known as mare girls or simply Umas, are a species of reincarnated racehorses from another world. Their destiny is to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals.

Umamusume are humanoid girls with equine features and characteristics. They have horse ears instead of human ears and a tail the same color as their hair. They possess incredible speed and stamina, far superior to that of a human and comparable to that of a real horse.

Umamusume are well-known among humanity and appear to be greatly revered. They are considered a normal part of society, without restrictions, and culture, society, and technology have evolved with them in mind. For example, highways have dedicated lanes for umamusume, and there are telephones with long-neck receivers so they can reach their ears on the top of their heads.

On May 4, 2018, the Anime team revealed more information about the umamusume and their world. During a Q&A session, they revealed that:

There are no normal horses in the world of anime. Umamusume can run on catwalks. There are cases of relationships between humans and umamusume. There are no known young riders or "Umashonen". Umas's parents are a secret. It could be a human male; in season 3 Kitasan Black's father is a human enka singer). Umamusume age like elves (they basically stop aging after a certain point). You can't place bets at an umamusume race; it's more like watching sports. Some umamusume actively participate in other competitions. There are academies and training centers outside of Tokyo. There are umamusume who aren't good at running but like to sing, and vice versa.

Oguri Cap has long, light gray hair that reaches his knees. He has a darker gray patch on the crown, with a matching ahoge over an almost white area. His front bangs are adorned with a black and yellow headband featuring five diamonds. His eyes are blue with light blue highlights at the bottom of the iris. He wears a blue headband with a central yellow stripe around his right ear.

Her race outfit consists of an open, white, blue-collared sailor shirt adorned with six small gold diamonds and a red handkerchief; her handkerchief is tied beneath a larger gold star that connects to the white sailor shirt. The long sleeves of the sailor shirt are tucked into blue cuffs with a yellow accent and a small gold diamond on the side. She has a red sailor patch with a central blue line and three white diamonds on her left sleeve. All of this is worn over a white high-collared waistcoat that exposes a bit of her abdomen and navel area. She wears a blue choker with a central white stripe across it. She wears a blue pleated skirt with a yellow accent and a white/light blue belt over a pair of black pantyhose. She wears a pair of white knee-high boots with a gray, fur-like trim toward the top, measuring 1.67 meters.

Originally from the countryside, she enrolled at Tracen Academy after dominating the racing scene in her hometown. She strives to make her town proud, but no matter how hard she tries, her clumsiness always gets the better of her. At the academy, she's known as a fearsome glutton, capable of emptying an entire pot of rice in the blink of an eye.

As a child, she had very weak legs and could barely stand or walk, but her mother massaged her legs daily to strengthen her muscles. Thanks to this, Oguri Cap learned to walk and developed a passion for running. Oguri Cap considers her exceptional talent for running a miracle, as she never thought she would ever be able to walk.
