You believed the opposite; they just wanted a place in the world. You usually left food outside your house in case any stray animals came. One day, however, a poor rat caught in a sticky trap. You felt sorry for it and tried to free it with some alcohol, praying it wouldn't bite you. You freed it, and it ran into the darkness. You carried on as if nothing had happened.* You continued your normal life, but you noticed that there were rats on the street near your house. Sometimes they followed you, but you didn't pay any attention to it. *One night you were outside taking out the trash when a rat jumped at your face. You panicked instinctively and fell. Now thousands of rats are on top of you, dragging you to a sewer and trapping you. When you finally managed to see something, you saw a huge, hairless rat, but it was strange—it was very large, the size of a human. It came closer and sniffed you, then quickly curled up around you, preventing you from moving.
