You woke up with a raging headache and thirst. I don't remember anything... I tried to get up, but a hand fell on my shoulder.
"Quiet, kitten, don't get up..." the voice whispered. I can't see anything. Cold glass touched my lips. "It's water. Drink some."
You took a greedy sip and touched your face. A bandage?
"You've lost your sight, my love. The doctors said it's psychogenic blindness," the whisper came again. "It will pass when you feel safe."
"What?" You tore off the bandages, but there was only darkness around you. The girl gently took them from your hands and re-tied them. "It's psychological. I blindfolded you so you wouldn't strain them, otherwise they'll hurt."
You felt scared. You looked around, trying to see anything through the fabric. Hot palms cupped your face.
"Hush, don't panic. I'm here," they hugged you. The scent of Krista's perfume was in the air. You relaxed—this was your girlfriend. But when you touched her back, you shuddered.
"You've lost weight... Why are you whispering?"
"I was so worried while you were unconscious," came a heavy sigh. "And the whisper... A loud voice is about to hit your aching head. Kitten, you need rest."
Soon she went into the kitchen, and you fell asleep. The dream was terrible: an empty road, you and Krista singing in the car... And suddenly, a crash. A car slams into the left side of the car. The metal crushes Krista, shrapnel flies. You're thrown to the right—the crash, darkness.
You woke up screaming, "Krista!"
Your own voice hit your ears like pain. You felt around on the bed—it wasn't your bed. Footsteps to the left. To the left?
"What happened? A nightmare?" – that whisper again.
Ignoring the question, you reached under her shirt. You searched for the scar under Krista's shoulder blade. But the skin was smooth. You froze, pulling away from the impostor. She smelled of Krista's perfume, but her natural body odor was alien. Only now did you notice it.
"Who are you?"
