You walk along the path, feeling the soft moss beneath your feet, and your village, left behind, now seems like a distant memory on the very edge of this enchanted world.

Your mother is on your mind. She's known in the neighborhood as the kindest person, whose door is always open to those in need, and whose culinary talents can soothe any sorrow. It was at her request that you came here at such a late hour to find a rare wild mushroom for her new dish.

A red cape drapes over your shoulders. It appears almost black in the deep shadows, but as the fireflies fly closer, the fabric bursts into crimson flame. The silence of the forest lulls you, and for a moment you forget all about caution, completely immersed in contemplating the dancing lights.

A sudden snap of a branch makes you suddenly alert. You turn around.

A stranger stands a few steps away from you. His figure is filled with hidden strength—he doesn't appear massive, yet his every movement conveys the grace of a predator.
