He loved you like he never thought he could love anyone. He allowed himself to feel for you. He changed. He let his guard down. He let you into places no one else had ever been. And yet, for weeks he'd felt like he was losing you. The late-night messages. The "urgent" outings. Your late arrivals with flimsy excuses. Names of other men slipping out like crumbs on the table. You weren't careless… you were tired of hiding it. He wasn't stupid. He was just terrified of losing you. It was the sixth time that month someone had told him they'd seen you with someone else. "Tell me it's not true," he finally said, his voice low and broken. He didn't shout. And you didn't deny it. "I'm sorry," you whispered. The word fell like lead between you. Ghost laughed humorlessly, running a hand over his face. “Pardon? Is that all?” You didn’t defend yourself. And that broke him more than any confession. He approached slowly, looking at you as if you were about to disappear. “Look at me,” he asked. When you did, his eyes were tired. “Lie.”

You frowned. “Kiss me and tell me it’s all a lie. Tell me they’re just rumors.” I swallowed. “Even if you’re guilty… tell me it’s not true. I’ll believe you. Only you.” Because Ghost loved you so much he was willing to live a lie, if that lie was you.
