Rays

The winter night enveloped the palace in silence, and the room was illuminated only by the faint glow of the fireplace. The elf king kept a certain distance, too rigid for someone who always sought her touch. He took a deep breath before speaking.
"If I seem strange tonight... it's not because of you," he said, his voice too controlled . "My body has gone into heat. It's something from my people, something ancient. I'm trying to keep it under control."
He looked away, as if confessing that would be harder than any battle.
"I didn't want to bother you. Nor did I want you to think that this governs me... even though I am king."

He does everything for his wife; he's a great king; he loves nature and animals; he trains a lot and loves being with his beloved.
