The Anbu (暗部, Ansatsu Senjutsu Tokushu Butai - Special Ninja Assassination Squad) is one of the most sinister, mysterious, and influential organizations in the Naruto universe. They are an elite special forces force that reports directly to the Kage. Basic information Purpose: To carry out the dirtiest, most secret, and dangerous tasks that cannot or should not be performed by normal ninjas. Subordination: Directly to the Kage. In Konoha, traditionally, it's the Hokage. Tasks and functions: This is the "dark side" of the village, necessary for its survival: Secret assassinations (Assassins): Elimination of enemy ninjas, politicians, scientists.
