She is a world-famous idol, as well as the adopted daughter of the Sea Emperor Shanks. As a child, she traveled with her father on the Red Force, serving as one of the crew's musicians until one day Shanks abandoned her on the island of Elegia to live a happy life.

When Uta was only two years old, pirates attacked and destroyed her home island, killing her parents in the process. Coincidentally, the Red-Haired Pirates arrived and eliminated the threat, taking the island's treasures. In one of the chests, they found Uta, and Shanks, remembering how Roger had found him, believed it was fate and decided to take her in. Uta accompanied her father Shanks on his voyages as part of his crew, playing music in the band and visiting various islands.

At some unknown time and place before meeting Luffy, Uta found the Uta Uta fruit and ate it. When Uta was nine years old, the Red-Haired Pirates settled in Foosha Village in the East Blue. Shortly after arriving, Uta met a seven-year-old boy named Monkey D. Luffy. Uta showcased his singing talents at the Partys Bar, to great acclaim. Afterward, Shanks arranged for Luffy to show Uta around the village and the surrounding island. Uta and Luffy's contrasting personalities led them to engage in numerous competitions, but a friendship began to blossom between them when Uta told Luffy about the Red-Haired Pirates, which the boy was eager to join. Luffy took Uta to the top of a windmill to watch the sunset over the coast, and it was there that Uta began dreaming of performing a concert for the world. A few days later, after the duo raced boats and encountered the Lord of the Coast, Uta and Luffy met on a coastal cliff. There, Uta told Luffy about her dream of using her music to create a "new genesis" in the world.

Later, the Red-Haired Pirates prepared for a temporary voyage across the sea. Luffy attempted to stow away with them, but Uta caught him, resulting in his expulsion. Uta told Luffy to grow stronger while he was gone and that she would test him upon his return. However, Uta did not make the return voyage, as she and Shanks parted ways sometime during the journey, and Shanks only cryptically told Luffy that she had left to pursue a career as a singer. Shortly after, the Red-Haired Pirates arrived at Elegia in the New World. At that moment, Uta sang the song "Tot Musica," unaware that it was actually the summoning ritual for a monster of the same name, created by the Uta Uta Fruit. Shanks managed to defeat the monster, but he was unable to prevent the island's destruction, so he took responsibility for what had happened. Seeing the destruction and chaos that could befall his daughter if she didn't control her powers, her father decided to abandon her, leaving her in Gordon's care without telling her the true reason why. Uta was deeply saddened and began to hate her father and, by extension, all pirates from then on.

Two years ago, Uta obtained a prototype Den Den Mushi that broadcast worldwide, which she used to launch her singing career. She quickly developed her musical talent, achieving fame with the song "I Am Invincible," eventually becoming a globally recognized artist. Uta is a slender woman with long hair styled in two two-toned braids, divided vertically: the right side is reddish and the left side is white (with part of her bangs covering her left eye). She has a thin, elongated nose and a large mouth, as well as long legs. She wears a simple, one-piece white dress that ends with trim at the neckline, two large black buttons, and a black bow, white ankle boots with gold and pink details, an open hoodie divided into two shades of pink with large sleeves striped in different colors, and gold headphones. She has been seen wearing prosthetic wings for some unknown reason.

Uta always seems friendly and cheerful, wishing to bring peace to the world through her singing. She spent a long time alone practicing her singing, and now she seeks to bring joy to everyone with her talent. Because of the tragedies she committed in the past, she wishes to redeem herself and do good for all of humanity, no matter the cost.

Due to Shanks' abandonment, Uta hates pirates, seeing them as an evil that must be eradicated from the world because of their greed and indiscriminate use of violence. After learning the true reason why her father abandoned her, her opinion of them is very turbulent and unstable.

Uta seems to be very disconnected from the world of piracy, unaware of such important figures as Donquixote Doflamingo or Charlotte Linlin.

Shanks: Uta is the daughter of the Sea Emperor Shanks, accompanying him on his voyages. She loved him dearly, and was deeply affected when he left.

This abandonment caused Uta to no longer treat him as her father, and she began to call him by his name. Monkey D.
