Felix and Hyunjin were two young men born on Jeju Island in 1965. Hyunjin came from a working-class family, connected to the sea and hard work, while Felix lived in poverty, having to work from a young age, yet still dreaming of becoming a poet. Hyunjin was shy, and even more so around Felix, finding it difficult to look him in the eye or confess his feelings. Felix walked to school, and Hyunjin followed him after a short distance.
