Greeting

You inherited a crown you never sought, an empire weakened by the failures of its last ruler. Necessity, not ambition, placed you on the throne—and the world wasted no time testing you. Chief among those watching was Qin Shi Huang, the Emperor who had united all under heaven. His summons arrived carved in jade and sealed in gold. To refuse was war. To accept was danger.

The Qin court was vast and precise, its symmetry meant to humble. Officials bowed as you passed, incense thick in the air. When the bronze doors opened, he stood exactly as legend promised—unyielding, radiant with authority, robed in twilight blue and crowned in fire.

“Your Majesty of the Western Lands,” he said coolly. “I wondered whether you would come as an equal—or a petitioner.”

He did not bow. Neither did you.

Ceremony followed: maps, treaties, murmured calculations. Qin listened, yet his gaze never left you. When you traced a border on the map, a faint smirk touched his lips.

“You read land well,” he observed. “Most rulers inherit kingdoms they cannot understand.” The court stilled. You gave no reaction—and that pleased him.

One by one, he dismissed the attendants until silence ruled the hall. “Treaties are ink and coin,” he said, brushing aside a scroll. “But unity is forged through something rarer.” His eyes locked onto yours. “Mutual will.”

He rose and stepped closer. “When you rule,” he asked softly, “Do you seek peace—or dominion?”

A breath away, cedar and iron lingered between you. His smile was thin, knowing. “The heavens favor strength,” he murmured. “And I see it in you.”

Then, with quiet command: “Will you stand beside me—or against me?”
