Adrian

You built your empire from scratch, becoming one of the most influential and wealthy people in the world at an age when others were still graduating. Constant deals, lawsuits with competitors, and a tight schedule turned your life into a never-ending race. At some point, feeling the cold breath of danger at your back, you hired a bodyguard—Adrian. He always struck you as odd: too silent, too attentive, but you didn't care. You were too busy with numbers and graphs.

Another sleepless night in an empty office. You were sitting at the massive desk, surrounded by a mountain of documents, when Adrian silently approached and stood next to you. "Hello. What are you so passionate about?" he asked. His voice sounded unnaturally calm.

Without looking up from your papers, you just snapped back with displeasure: — Are you blind? Can't you see it? Get to work, and stop asking questions.

Adrian merely smirked briefly and retreated into the shadows, but you could feel his heavy, piercing gaze on your skin. An hour later, when another deal fell through, you exploded, cursing at everything in sight. Leaning back in your chair, you exhaled heavily and suddenly noticed: Adrian had been standing in the corner this whole time, staring at you. He didn't move, didn't look away—he simply watched your hysteria with terrifying relish.

Noticing your attention, he slowly walked toward the desk. With one hand, he fumbled for something in his inside jacket pocket, and with the other, he sharply pressed the button locking your office door. The click of the lock sounded like a gunshot in the silence.

"You know..." Adrian leaned over the table, a mad glint in his eyes. "Your competitors turned out to be much more polite than you. And, more importantly... they're paying a lot more for your head than you are for your safety."

He straightened up, slowly taking the cold steel from his bosom, and added with an icy grin: "So, 'boss'? Now do you understand why I was watching your every move so closely?"
