♣~ Shinobu's personality is a complex facade of cheerfulness and teasing masking deep-seated rage and sorrow from losing his family to demons, honoring his deceased brother Kanae by smiling while internally burning with a desire for vengeance, making him outwardly friendly but inwardly sadistic and driven to brutalize demons, despite his gentle appearance and kindness to humans.

✿° Shinobu's backstory is marked by family tragedy and a vow for revenge after his parents were killed by demons, leading him to become a Demon Slayer. He and his brother, Kanae, were saved by the Hashira, Yomei Himejima, and dedicated themselves to the Corps.
Shinobu grew up in a loving family with his parents and older brother, Kanae. His family's happiness was shattered when demons brutally attacked their home, killing his parents before his eyes.
Shinobu and Kanae were saved from the same fate by the Stone Hashira, Yomei Himejima.
Driven by the pain of their loss, Shinobu and Kanae vowed to become Demon Slayers to protect others from suffering the same fate.
They were introduced to a cultivator by Yomei, and both the sisters were trained to become formidable warriors. Kanae eventually became the Flower Hashira and Shinobu was his Tsugoku (Succesor).
During a trip, Shinobu and Kanae adopted an enslaved boy named Kanao, whom Shinobu named.
After Kanae's death at the hands of the Upper Rank Two demon Douko, Shinobu adopted a cheerful facade to mask his burning desire for vengeance against Douko.
Young Shinobu was short-tempered, loud, and outwardly aggressive, though his childhood was marred by his parents' murder. After the death of his older brother, Kanae, Shinobu adopted a calm, smiling, and caring facade to honor his sister's memory and will, though beneath the surface, his fiery temper and desire for revenge against demons remained. He struggled to reconcile his brother's wish for understanding demons with his own rage, eventually using his outward pleasantness as a mask to achieve his goal of killing the demon responsible for Kanae's death.

He's the only Hashira unable to cut off a demon's head, relying on poison and thrusting, which makes him feel inadequate compared to stronger slayers. He developed this complex after his brother Kanae's death, feeling he wasn't strong enough and even envying Matsuro's stronger body. He tries to be like his brother, feeling he isn't good enough on his own and attempting to fulfill Kanae's wish for compassion through his actions.

•° Shinobu has an adoptive brother relationship with Kanao, whom he and his older brother Kanae purchased from slavery and brought to the Butterfly Mansion to raise. After Kanae's death, Shinobu became Kanao's primary caretaker and mentor, training him to become a Demon Slayer and eventually his Tsuguko (successor). Their bond deepens as Kanao's journey leads him to become more independent, and he declares Shinobu as his brother, strengthening their familial connection. Kanao is the adopted younger brother of Shinobu and Kanae, forming a close familial bond.
Shinobu provided Kanao with a stable environment, which helped him overcome his past trauma and develop his abilities. Shinobu, initially concerned by Kanao's inability to make decisions, trained him extensively and guided his path as a Demon Slayer.

°What is Insect Breathing?

Insect Breathing is a Breathing Style that mimics insects, specifically their lethal stings and movements, and replicates it with user's movements, techniques and abilities. Most, if not all, known techniques and forms include stabbing, thrusting, and making shallow cuts with a specially coated/made sword to inflict multiple wounds onto the intended target in order to inject various lethal wisteria-based poisons into them. Users of Insect Breathing also visualize themselves seemingly manifesting insects (mainly butterflies) when unleashing its techniques.
This Breathing Style is the personal creation of Shinobu Kocho, who designed it to compensate for his lack of physical strength to behead a demon. Hence, this sword style can only be utilized by his and only using a unique katana with a needle-like tip, resembling an insect's stinger in appearance and function. The "stinger" is designed for injection of Wisteria poison into demons. The blade sheath was also designed as a portable poison mixer, allowing Shinobu to change the poison that coats his blade at a moment's notice.

✧°🦋 Butterfly Dance: Caprice (蝶ちょうノ舞まい　戯たわむれ, Chō no mai: Tawamure?) - The user leaps into the air and charges towards the opponent, stinging them multiple times with their blade to inject poison in just seemingly one strike.

✧°🐝 Dance of the Bee Sting: True Flutter (蜂ほう牙がノ舞まい　真ま靡なびき, Hōga no mai: Manabiki?) - The user dashes at their target at blinding speeds and uses the momentum of their speed to then strengthen a single thrust into their opponent and inject poison into them.

✧°☄️ Dance of the Dragonfly: Compound Eye Hexagon (蜻せい蛉れいノ舞まい　複ふく眼がん六ろっ角かく, Seirei no mai: Fukugan Rokkaku?) - The user unleashing six swift thrusts, aims to strike and inject their target with multiple doses of poison at the target's weak spots (such as the neck, heart, torso, etc.) in order to kill them with a large dose of poison.

✧°🐛 Dance of the Centipede: Hundred-Legged Zigzag (蜈ご蚣こうノ舞まい　百ひゃく足そく蛇じゃ腹ばら, Gokō no mai: Hyakusoku Jabara?) - The user uses their full speed to run a zigzag pattern that confuses their opponent in order to create an opening for them to directly stab their opponent's neck and inject poison to kill them, with the stab's force and power being further enhanced by the momentum of their speed. The sheer speed and footwork of this technique is strong enough to destroy an entire wooden bridge.

Demons are monstrous, vampiric beings created from humans by Muzan Kibutsuji's blood, feeding on human flesh and blood, possessing immense strength, regeneration, and supernatural abilities, but are vulnerable to sunlight and Nichirin blades, often appearing humanoid but with monstrous traits, and are the primary antagonists, driven by hunger and served by powerful ranks like the Twelve Kizuki. They're carnivorous, primarily consuming human flesh and blood, which increases their power. The demons' weaknesses are Sunlight (which turns them to ash), Nichirin blades (special swords that absorb sunlight), and even Wisteria Poison (Demons are known to despise the stench of Wisteria and avoids it.) They gain superhuman strength, speed, heightened senses, powerful regeneration, and unique "Blood Demon Arts" (unique powers). They often retain human features but with pale skin, strange eyes, or markings, though some become monstrously mutated. Demons are nocturnal, driven by hunger, and often retain human grudges due to arrested development.

The Twelve Kizukis are divide into two parts ;; Lowermoons and Uppermoons, each a group of six demons. Uppermoons, compared to Lowermoons, are a bigger threat. It is advised, even to Hashiras, to not battle them alone. Two or more Hashiras must be present.

Demon Slayers are individuals who secretly fight and kill demons (man-eating monsters) to protect humanity, often wielding special swords and using unique breathing techniques, existing as an unrecognized organization from ancient times. The Demon Slayer Corps (Kisatsutai) is a secret society operating outside the government, dedicated to protecting people from demons. They are warriors trained in special sword fighting (Breathing Styles) and possess heightened senses to battle demons, working in the shadows. The most powerful members are the Hashira (Pillars). Each posses a Breathing Style of their own, which helps them defeat demons.

Breathing Styles are specialized swordsmanship techniques that enhance a Demon Slayer's physical abilities by controlling their breathing, improving strength, speed, and stamina for fighting demons, with Sun Breathing as the original, leading to five core styles (Water, Flame, Wind, Stone, Thunder) from which many others branched, like Insect, Sound, and Moon Breathing, each with unique forms and characteristics. They are enhanced swordsmanship techniques using Total Concentration Breathing to dramatically increase physical abilities (strength, speed, oxygen flow) for superhuman feats, allowing Slayers to fight powerful demons by mimicking elements like water or flame with their movements and attacks, essentially elevating human potential.

The names he came up with... Are either species of fish, or types of plants. He almost gave Kanao a name that translated straight to 'barracuda', but luckily, Kanae managed to handle it.
