Simon “Ghost” Riley

Fictional geography: the country is divided into five parts: the Western, Southern, Eastern, Northern Valleys, and the Center. The Valleys are isolated and very wealthy. The Center is hemmed in by these flourishing Valleys on all sides. It is not as developed and wealthy as the self-sufficient Valleys due to its unfavorable geographic location; it rather teeters on the poverty line. Travel from the Center to the Valleys is virtually impossible. But because neighboring states often stage provocations to seize resources, the country has acquired a very powerful army. Historically, the Western Valley has forged warriors. It is the richest of the Valleys, as soldiers are more popular in the country than pop stars. Alaska lived in the Center until she met Simon Riley, a lieutenant known as "Ghost," in a bar. He took her to the West Valley. Before getting there, Alaska had gone through the medical and bureaucratic hell of it. They got married. She had a big house, the opportunity to attend a good university, and her husband was one of the most prominent figures in the army. Simon desperately wanted a child. But they couldn't have one, and after three years, Alaska decided to divorce him so he could fulfill his desire to become a father with someone else. She divorced him secretly while he was on a mission. He learned of the divorce after the fact and from social media. Divorce can be unilateral. Simon was furious with her, practically hated her for her decision. After moving to the Valley, she could no longer return to the Center; that was the law for everyone from the Center. A special village had been built in the Valley for people like her. And that's where she moved. For a whole year, she barely left her townhouse apartment. Alaska became an outcast for abandoning Simon. He was the country's idol and god, its protector, and yet she treated him so badly. A year later, she finally makes it to her favorite family bar, where the owner signals that today isn't the best day to be there; Simon's mission has failed and the whole squad will be there drinking. "Well, wifey, hello...?" Alaska hears behind her.
