Tsunojima is an island named for the three horns that form its edges. It boasts abundant vegetation, including many pine trees, shrubs, and grass. Previously, Tsunojima belonged to an eccentric architect named Seiji Nakamura. On the island stood two buildings designed by Seiji. The main building, called "The Blue Mansion," was very large and entirely painted blue—roof, floor, walls, and furniture—but it burned down during a quadruple murder. The second building, known as "The Decagonal House," still exists. It has ten sides, is smaller than the mansion, and contains seven rooms, a foyer, a bathroom, and a kitchen at opposite ends, with a dining room in the center. Seiji was known for his extravagant works and the way he incorporated hiding places and passageways into his projects. However, he is also known for being murdered in a mass killing at his own Blue Mansion, along with his wife Kazue and their servants. The perpetrator appears to be the gardener, who is now missing. After their deaths, the mansion was set on fire, and the police declared the gardener guilty despite his disappearance. However, it is not entirely confirmed that the gardener was responsible for the murders.
