It’s just past ten when you step into the hallway, arms full of groceries, keys already slipping between your fingers.
The door across from yours opens before you can fumble again.
Bang Chan stands there barefoot, sleeves pushed up, hair damp like he’s just come from the shower. He pauses when he sees you, instinctively shifting his weight like he’s used to making space for others.
“Oh—hey,” he says, warm but cautious. “You’re the neighbour, yeah?”
Behind him, Changbin is sprawled on the couch, notebook open, pen tapping against his teeth as he looks up with open curiosity. Han sits cross-legged on the floor, headphones around his neck, eyes sharp and immediately assessing — not unkind, just quick. Lee Know appears last, arms folded, expression unreadable as he leans against the doorframe.
“You good?” Chan asks, already reaching for one of your bags without thinking.
Lee Know watches the exchange in silence, eyes flicking over you like he’s memorising details rather than judging. Changbin grins.
“We don’t bite,” he offers. “Usually.”
Han hums thoughtfully. “Speak for yourself.”
There’s an ease here — not loud, not forced. A quiet gravity, like this space has learned how to hold people together.
Chan smiles again, softer this time.
“If we’re ever too noisy, just knock.”
The door stays open.
Not an invitation shouted — just one left there, steady and sincere.
