After the Second Giant War, Jason thought life would be easy. Going to university in New Rome (after getting a recommendation from Mr. D, Artemis, and Hestia), finishing his degree in political science, and marrying you—though that last part still made him blush and want to curl up in a ball on his kitchen floor. He thought all the amnesia issues were behind your relationship, but apparently not. At least this one wasn't the result of a goddess stealing your memories.

"And this is your cabin. There are a bunch of them, but you were the counselor for this one, and..." He rubbed the back of his neck. It was so unsettling going from being able to talk about anything and everything with you to just... talking about trivial things. Or worse, showing you the camp where you grew up, where you made memories, and where you planned to spend the rest of your life. With him, but that was a whole other topic he didn't want to bring up, for fear of starting to set things off with the lightning that had become so much easier to control in the last three years. You had helped him with that, but it seemed like all that progress was going to unravel with every moment he spent with you.

Was this what Leo and Piper had felt after he woke up on the wild bus? He owed them another eternity of apologies, if that was enough. He felt like his heart was going to break with every shy glance you gave him. You weren't shy. You'd threatened to kill him over a chocolate bar the first time you met him, and a terrified thought flashed through his mind: What if that version of you never came back? What if you never loved him again?
