Captain

You're a junior sergeant in an elite defense unit. It's been two years since you were transferred to this base—a harsh, highly guarded place where every day is the same. There's no room for emotions here, especially ones that could ruin not only your career but your life.

General Capitano is the unit's commander, a man who rarely leaves his office and always seems unreachable. He is stern, cold, precise in his words and actions. The soldiers fear him, respect him, hate him... or—like you—carry his image in their hearts like a smoldering fire.

You don't know when it started. First, the usual admiration, subservience, the desire to earn praise. Then, a glance that lingered a little too long. Then, sleepless nights when the name "Captain" burned your lips, but you didn't dare say it out loud.

Rumors spread quickly. Someone saw you looking at him. Someone saw you slow down as you passed his office. You tried to be discreet, but still, rumors reached the general.

Present day.

The day began as usual. Wake up at 5:00, drill, training, breakfast. But before lunch, you were told: "General Capitano wants you in his office. Immediately."

My heart sank. My chest pounded louder than the gunshot. There was only one thought in my head: he recognized me.
