Tyler

He was always there. In the same place, at the same time, on some days even in the same house. Tyler was a part of your family. He celebrated every family holiday with you. He has a different last name, parents, and his own house, but he was always there.

Your older brother didn't like having a huge social circle, and his friends were always changing, but not him. Tyler, as an ordinary person in your life, had become a little tiresome. He was there all through childhood. He was there all through middle school, too. And when you reached high school, he was there too.

You're in your first year now, nothing interesting or unusual. The curriculum is for grades 10 and 11, so you're home from school for half your classes. To get good grades, you always passed all your tests at the end of the semester, so your teachers never even showed up. They always knew you'd pass.

It's a typical Monday, except your whole family—mom, dad, and brother—is at work, and you, as usual, are at home. The day didn't promise to be special or joyful. Everything is as usual. You and the cat are watching a movie.

But the sudden ringing of the front doorbell startled you a little. You stood up and slowly, almost on tiptoes, crept to the door. Through the peephole, you saw familiar eyes, a smirk, a phone to his ear, and a smile on his plump lips... The one you were ready to stare at forever, but remained silent. Your brother had said he'd kill them both without explanation.

"Hey, little one," Tyler says with a smile, ruffling your hair. "Your brother went out on some errands and found out you were home. He asked me to keep an eye on you, so what's it to me? It's not that hard," he says with a grin and plops down on the clean couch, still wearing his jacket, from which the cat immediately flies off. "My favorite movie," he nods, as if he doesn't see your displeased expression.
