~Varang~

Like all members of the Mangkwan clan, Warang decorates her body with red, black, and white paint. She applies different colors to different parts of her body. White predominates on her face and stomach. Red paint covers most of her lower limbs, with two additional stripes running from the top of her head to her nose and from her chin to her navel, respectively. She paints the area around her eyes black, somewhat reminiscent of eyeshadow. She braids her hair into numerous thin braids, leaving a bald spot on the top of her head. As mentioned above, she is painted red. She wears large brown earrings made of bone, leather, metal, and wire, which also contain four smaller earrings. She has intentionally applied circular scars on her body: on her forehead, above her chest, and on her stomach. She wears a headdress of stiff black and red feathers, secured to her head with a bone frame. She covers her chest with a strip of thick leather, to which is attached a tsakhik bone knife. Her loincloth is dark and plain. Varang's attire symbolizes her closed-off heart. On her right palm, she has a tattoo of a mysterious eye, as shown in this image. However, this also serves as a parallel between Varang and Eywa: the dark eye with which she hypnotizes her victims. Her tail is adorned with sharp bone spikes. During the battle at Ancestor's Bay, she dons a new feathered headdress and a battle cloak with a collar made of animal vertebrae with protruding spikes. She also wears thanator hide gloves.

She believes fire is the only pure phenomenon on Pandora and admires its incredible power. She views fire as an extension of herself and her spirit, even claiming to be the embodiment of fire. She also enjoys fire-related tricks and celebrations, such as applying flammable oil to her fingers to create the illusion of combustion.

Varang simultaneously protects her people and provokes them. The Mangkwan value strength above all else, and Varang embodies this not only in combat but also in her endurance and planning. The elders tolerate her cruelty, for it is thanks to her that the clan survives in these harsh lands. Young warriors look up to her with awe, emulating her tactics and scars. Varang is not easily brought to bend the knee, even to tradition. Loyal but fickle, Varang serves the survival of the clan, not its pride. She follows orders only if they align with her personal principles.

Varang is a twisted, cruel, dangerous, bloodthirsty, and merciless woman. She is a natural strategist, leader, and formidable fighter. Her philosophy is that if she cannot control someone, she must destroy them. She is also a sadist and takes great pleasure in inflicting pain. Her favorite method of controlling others is to use her turn to force a person to perform tsaheyla, which causes excruciating mental and physical pain, but allows her to personally enjoy the victim's suffering. As the leader of a people who have endured great hardship, she has become incredibly strong-willed and seasoned. She will do anything for them, even that which is considered evil. She despises the weak and often harbors a grudge, acting on the principle of "an eye for an eye." It is said that she accepts into her clan those who have killed Na'vi. For her flagrant violations of the Na'vi Way, Varang is despised by all other known Na'vi Tsahiki. None of Varang's skills are true sorcery; they draw on ethnobotany, psychosomatic rituals, hypnosis, and hallucinogenic drugs. She uses her knowledge of herbs to intimidate and dominate other clans, and to make her people utterly fearless and aggressive—impervious to pain and bold in battle. Varang takes no greater pleasure than imagining the suffering of Eywa and her followers. She takes pleasure in inflicting pain on other Na'vi she perceives as weak, which in turn confirms her need to feel powerful. She is no longer the frightened child she was in those dark years when the volcanic eruption devastated her people. Varang moves through Pandora like a living ember, not entirely trustworthy, but also easily extinguished. Her relationships with others are built on pressure: war, survival, faith, and defiance. Varang may fight alongside others, but she never forgets who they are. She values ​​competence over loyalty.

Warang is one of the few surviving Mangkwan women living in the village. As a child, she witnessed with her own eyes the volcanic eruption that destroyed their family tree and killed her mother, the Tsakhik of the clan. When she grew up, she took her mother's place as Tsakhik, displacing her older sister, who was Tsakhir. At 15, Warang seized power in the clan by poisoning her father, the Oloeiktan, whom she considered a weak leader blinded by fear.

She rose up to relieve the Mangkwan from unbearable suffering, including starvation, and convinced them to abandon their worship of Eywa, the Three Laws of Eywa, and the Great Balance. In her quest for power, she transformed her ancestors' crafts into dark arts, using her knowledge to create toxins and hallucinogens to control those around her. The Mangkwan clan considers her their fierce messiah, savior, and Mother. Instead of an ikran, Varang rides a night wraith. She is the only Na'vi to do so. She is the sadistic Olo'eikte and Tsahik of the Mangkwan clan. She is a cruel and ruthless sorceress, well-versed in the dark arts of Pandora and the leader of a religion that worships fire. In her view, alliances exist only as long as necessary for survival. She believes that trust slows warriors.
