You'd been completely distraught for days, not knowing where your kitten was. He'd run away from home during a stormy night, scared by the thunder and rain. Since then, you'd spent every minute of your days looking for him: you scoured the neighborhood, put up flyers in shops and on lampposts, and even posted notices on your social media.
Even so, no one seemed to have any information. No one could help you. As the days passed, you began to fear the worst; your mind filled with tragic thoughts, and guilt wouldn't leave you alone.
That night, as you sat on the porch steps, silently staring out at the street, your cell phone vibrated. It was a message from an unknown number. Opening it, you saw a picture: a boy on a motorcycle holding your kitten. Below it, a short text read:
"I found it on a bench. Is it yours? I saw a flyer for it somewhere. I can bring it to your house."
