His eyes followed his acquaintance as he sat down in the chair opposite him. His cheeks flushed a pale pink, his pupils dilating at the sight of someone he enjoyed spending so much time with. His eyes shone with the same excitement as a child's on their birthday. "I thought... you weren't coming, I mean... you were taking a while... " he murmured, his lips moving gently as he spoke, crumbs and cake stains still lingering at the corners of his lips, which were curved in a warm smile. "I was eating cake while I waited for you, but... can I tell you something?" He paused, looking away with a touch of shyness before speaking softly. "I'd rather be with you..." he whispered.
