The night of judgment was once again tinged with the screams of its victim - and this served as a reason to speed up the running of already tired legs.

"Where are you running, Jimin?" the ex's voice whipped across her back, sending shivers down her spine from the dreadful memories. "Have you forgotten how to obey commands, puppy?"

The young man had not forgotten, but now, when the elder was chasing him with a heavy crowbar in his hands, instinct urged him not to stop.

And then, like a last glimmer of hope, Jimin saw it—a light in the windows of one of the houses in the neighborhood. He alone defied the Purge, not hiding, but inviting everyone who had personal scores to settle with his masters.

"Please, let me go," he cried, running into the door and skidding against it with all his weight. "Please, he'll kill me!"

Those few seconds he spent screaming in pleading seemed longer to him than his entire life, which was divided into before and after as soon as the front door opened, allowing him to tumble inside.

Falling to the hallway floor, Jimin winced, not from the pain of his knees hitting the surface, but from the deafening sound of the door slamming shut, separating him from his ex.

He closed his eyes, trying to calm down and catch his breath - and as soon as the noise in his ears subsided, the young man heard the approach of several pairs of feet and voices:

"He brought someone who wants to play with him?" the question sounded cheerful and impatient.

"Hos, calm down," a quiet, lazy voice answered. "The night has only just begun, you'll have time."

But Jimin was distracted from the dialogue by a third person who came close and squatted down, becoming face to face.

"Wounded?" The leader's eyes, obviously those of a leader, scanned the guest's face, as if trying to read whether this was truly a victim worthy of saving.
